LONGHUNTER 10, 7:00AM Sergeant Steve will appear

On Thursday morning at 7:00AM Sergeant Steve will appear at my door with his long-cab Pickup to get me and my gear for our trek to New Orleans. There are going to be 4 of us in the truck. I will be assigned a seat in the back since I am a little guy, but I hope to do a little light dozing on the 7 hour trip.

The great thing is I will be able to leave the 21st Century behind for a few days. That is what is so great about reenacting. You are so caught up in performing correctly, keeping your equipment up to snuff, and getting water and food that all the other worries go by the wayside.

There is the added advantage of being a part of a Band of Brothers that are all there for the same thing-To Honor Our Ancestors and What They Did For Us.

About Civil War Reflections

Vernon has been a Civil War buff since childhood, but had been inactive in Civil War history for over two decades. However, in the early 1990s his interest was rekindled after watching Ken Burns’ “Civil War Documentary” on PBS. He particularly became interested in the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg) and decided to learn more about this epic struggle.
