The Battle of Jefferson, Texas reenactment will take place May 3rd through May 5th.

This is a reenactment that Vernon will participate in as a Union soldier. The soldiers will sleep out Friday and Saturday nights in the town of Jefferson.

Saturday spectators can view the reenactment from the sidewalks while Union and Confederate soldiers fight it out in the streets.

Sunday will round out the weekend with an afternoon battle in a very large field about 5 miles from town . Last year this battle was viewed by about 500-600 spectators.

About Civil War Reflections

Vernon has been a Civil War buff since childhood, but had been inactive in Civil War history for over two decades. However, in the early 1990s his interest was rekindled after watching Ken Burns’ “Civil War Documentary” on PBS. He particularly became interested in the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg) and decided to learn more about this epic struggle.
