The 150th Camden Expedition
Benton, Ark. – March 26, 1864
Major General Fredrick Steele’s force completes crossing the Saline River.
The Confederate Army of the Trans-Mississippi, commanded by General Edmund Kirby Smith, has moved south to counter Union troops advancing up the Red River. This leaves Major General Sterling Price (C.S.A) with five cavalry brigades to protect Arkansas against the belated foray of Steele.
